There will be a FREE screening of the documentary film Intelligent Lives. Please see the attached flyer and consider sharing it with people, families, colleagues and within your networks.
Award-winning filmmaker Dan Habib produced Intelligent Lives, a catalyst to transform the label of intellectual disability from a life sentence of isolation into a life of possibility for the most systematically segregated people in America. This film challenges what it means to be intelligent, and points to a future in which people of ALL abilities can fully participate in higher education, meaningful employment and intimate relationships.
Academy Award-winning actor and narrator Chris Cooper contextualizes the lives of the central characters, three young adults with intellectual disabilities who challenge the perceptions of intelligence as they navigate high school, college, and the workforce. He does this through the emotional personal story of his son Jesse, as the film unpacks the shameful and ongoing track record of intelligence testing.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with Janice Fialka and Richard Feldman, parents of Micah Fialka-Feldman, who stars in the film.
We’ve included both the short trailer, and the extended trailer for your convenience.
